The ITN Storybook Tour kicked off June 16! Our founder and president Katherine Freund has driven nearly 1,500 miles to seven states from Maine to Georgia, gathering stories about how access to transportation is changing people’s lives. She wrote her first blog from the road here.

The Storybook Tour launched from the AARP Maine offices in Portland, Maine with special guests Bella Dinh-Zarr, Vice Chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board and Lori Parham, Interim Head of Community and Engagement for AARP, plus some ITNPortland member riders and volunteer drivers.

By the afternoon Katherine had already made her way to Massachusetts to begin gathering stories. Click here to watch a video of ITNGreaterBoston Volunteer Driver Paul Browne, explaining why he devotes his time to drive for ITN.

Katherine visited McLean Home in Simsbury, CT to hear stories from Dorothy Babcock, Marion May, Ursula Tetreault and her mother Betty Abrams. Watch the videos by clicking on the links to their names.

After that, she drove to West Harford, CT to celebrate ITNCentralCT's 10,000th ride and hear some stories and even a little singing from volunteers and ITNCentralCT members.

Katherine visited with our ITNCoastalCT affiliate and recorded videos of ITNCoastalCT member Jane Winton and Volunteer Driver Susanne Carbery Emery.

Partners in Care Facebook PostAfter a weekend of rest in Columbia, MD, Katherine had a great visit with our friends at Partners in Care Maryland and AARP MD, and then she visited with some folks from AARP North Carolina.

She drove on to visit with our newest ITN affiliate ITNLanier and friends in Gainesville, GA, where she also interviewd Former Mayor of Gainesville Sissy Dunlap Lawson. As we write this, she is on her way to ITNOrlando.
